I had to attend a social function in Vapi on 1St June at around 1200-1230 hours. Hence I booked two tickets one to go ( PNR - 17186 9187 728560 ) and second to return ( PNR - 17186 1814 727547). This was my first experience of booking multiple trips on REDBUS. Booking was super smooth. I could book the tickets pretty quickly. However, the tragedy was awaiting when it was time to execute - I meant when the bus would take off from Mumbai and reach Vapi.
The ticket to reach Vapi was scheduled to start at 0730 AM from Chembur. But a day before the trip, I received a message saying that the bus is late by couple of hours. Hence I enquired with the Bus Operator (Paulo Travels). The concerned person asked me to call in the morning as Bus was running late by few hours. Hence I called the same number in the morning and I was being informed that my Bus was still in Kolhapur. Based on Google Maps, Approx time to reach Mumbai from Kolhapur without any breaK is 7-8 hours. I was a bit confused and hence i thought of double checking with the bus driver whose number I received thru one of the messages from Paulo Travels (Bus Operator). To my surprise, the driver said he is in Pune. Two people belonging to the same company giving me two different answers . Don’t you think that is Weird !!! Hence I checked the GPS location. But GPS location was not working. Whom should I believe - bus driver who said that vehicle is in Pune or the agent who said that the bus is in Kolhapur. Under both the scenarios I was not reaching my social function at 12-1230 hours if I waited for the Bus.
Most surprising thing happened when I called REDBUS. Their helpline works only when you call from the registered number you used for booking tickets. I called from the number thru which I had booked tickets. But the IVR never recognised my number and always said pls call from registered number. Hence I could never talk to customer care. If I received REDBUS messages on the same number than why can’t I call using the same number to reach customer support. Strange !!!
Thereafter I started using their ChatBox to raise the concern. The AI / Bots never understood my querry and never pushed my case to a human being who could resolve my issue.
Either the entire REDBUS system is flawed or it is purposely done so that they don’t have to employ any person to address a customer complaint.
I had to reach Vapi under all circumstances and hence I had no option but to take my personal vehicle. Result, I lost my revenue on both my tickets and ended up paying for the petrol, toll and the stress to drive 3-3.5 half hours non stop one way.
Let us compare what REDBUS site said and compare with the facts at the time of execution
- RedBus said the bus started from Panvel but actually it started from Goa
- REDBUS said the Bus ends at Vapi But actually the bus was going all the way to Ahmedabad
- REDBUS said the Bus has an operating GPS system. But the GPS was not working.
With so much lies and pathetic customer care system I would never ever buy my tickets on REDBUS.
Request you to think twice before you book your tickets on REDBUS.
PS - I received refund of ticket to Vapi. Raised a complaint for refund of my return ticket from Vapi (Complaint Number - 8908305). Not received till the time I published this post.
